DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
This story is deeply personal to me, it encompasses love, identity, and the grieving process. When I was six, I witnessed my father’s passing - a moment forever etched in my mind. It abruptly unveiled the harsh reality that anyone dear to me, no matter how close, could be torn away without warning, leaving me utterly powerless to do anything about it.
In the aftermath, my mother navigated a tumultuous path, searching for herself while shouldering the responsibility of caring for my younger sister and me. Eventually, she became entangled with the man who would become my stepfather. Our departure from the home I knew led us to an isolated area cut off from society. No phones, no power - no neighbors. Within this isolation, my stepfather's abuse took root; he controlled my mother's every move and molded her very being, taking away her identity and erasing everything that was before him.
Although the past remains unalterable, I have always wanted to give my mother back her stolen identity, resurrect my father, and relive my childhood with a chance to mend the juncture where everything changed. A nostalgic moment replays in my mind - a time before my family's lives were forever altered. It holds the promise of a future where my father witnesses his children mature, my mother grows old with the love of her life, and countless family celebrations - Christmases and Thanksgivings materialize from forgotten dreams to cherished memories.
Affection has given me the opportunity to create a story that infuses my emotions and childhood memories into a sci-fi horror narrative.
